La tortuga

La Tortuga the turtle lived in a giant old Acacia tree in a sunny Mexican Village. The children of the village wanted to capture her and make her into turtle soup! But La Tortuga was very wise and she knew this. One day, the children tricked her and told her that they had grapes for her. They trapped her in a box. La Tortuga began to play her flute. The children danced and sang until she stopped when they were inside a house. The children begged for more. La Tortuga said she would continue to play her flute if they let her out of the cage. The children let her out and she began to play her flute until she reached the door of the house where she stopped. The children begged for more but La Tortuga told them she could play and dance much better outside. The children let her outside where she continued to play and dance. She led the children through the streets of the village and across the plaza to her home in the big Acacia tree. La Tortuga quickly slipped inside and closed her door. Too wise to be fooled again, La Tortuga plays her flute form the inside where the children watch from the outside.
